State of Mac shows which Mac apps people are getting, every week: the Mac App Store's top free apps, the most installed apps outside the store, what's climbing, and what's new.
Each issue covers the App Store chart, the most installed everyday apps, the ones climbing and cooling off, new arrivals, and one category in detail. Every app with enough installs has a page with its history and the other apps in its category. Guides turn the same numbers into lists, such as apps to get on a new MacBook.
State of Mac is made by Tundra Industries. Tundra makes Mac apps of its own, sold directly rather than through Homebrew, so they are not in the rankings. Some pages include a labeled "Made by us" note about one of them.
